Refreshing Flow of the Holy Spirit

Secular people may often find themselves asking Christians two questions: “how did you come to believe in the existence of God?” and “why do you go to church every Sunday?” The answer to the first question largely depends on the life experience of the Christian. Some may say that they grew up in a religious environment while others may recount an incident in their life where prayers were unexpectedly answered. Still others, like C.S. Lewis, came to the conclusion after many years of inquisitive investigation. For this article, I would like to focus on the second question because it really shows where our heart lies. One of the reasons I go to church (ROLIM) every Sunday and fellowship with my brethren is to renew and strengthen my faith in God through the reinvigorating flow of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout the week, our faith in God is put to the test through various temptations, really annoying people, failure, depressing news from the media, pressures of life (i.e. school) and difficult circumstances. While we may find ourselves wiser at the end of the week, we definitely feel drained, tired, hurt and in need of some refreshing.

Yes, each one of us does have the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Guide in times of distress, but going to church is like completely immersing oneself in a mighty rushingriver. At ROLIM, one can clearly see the diverse manifestations of the Holy Spirit through each one. We have Ptr. Shane, who ardently preaches God’s word; the prayer warriors, who lift up the church to God; the musicians and dancers, who lead us to His throne in worship; our friends, who attest to His power in their lives; the youth and the children, who inspire us with their energy; the moms who feed us well after the services; the ushers, who welcome us with open arms and countless other people who work behind the scenes.

Truly, it would be a blessing to hear that someone came to believe in God after having been ministered to by the Holy Spirit through ROLIM.
